The 7th American-Mongolian golf open tournament

TEMECULA, CA – January 13-16, 2022 – the 7th annual American-Mongolian Golf Open Tournament was held successfully. 55 players participated in the event. Mongolian golfers came from far and wide. 11 Mongolian contestants from Mongolia, Ireland and Panama joined fellow Kalmyck, Tibetan and Nepalese nationals’ golfers to take part in the exciting meet.

The tournament was organized by the American-Mongolian Golf Association (AMGA). It was supported by the Mongolian Golf Association (MGA) and The Embassy of Mongolia to the USA.The Mongolian Ambassador, U.Batbayar and the President of MGA, D.Jargalsaikhan joined the tournament. 

In the men’s competition, with the total stroke of 223 of three rounds, the winner was the two times champion of Mongolia, L.Dondovtseren, and the runner-up, with the total stroke of 273, was also the two times champion, O.Oyunbold.

11 participants competed in the women’s tournament. The winner was the two times champion of Mongolia, N.Namuna, and the runner-up, with 273 strokes, was D.Tungalag from Chicago, IL. 

By handicap (HC), the winner in the first category was M.Naranbaatar from Washington DC, and the runner-up was P.Naranbayar also from Washington DC.

The longest drive winner was the youngest participant of the tournament, the 17 year-old M.Buyan-Erdene of the Mongolian Golf Association. The nearest to the pin winner was I.Battsogt from Chicago, IL. The straightest drive winner was N.Tungalag from Denver, CO.

By team play (scramble), the winners were S.Myagmarsuren from Denver, CO, and B.Erdenebaatar (Baki) from Chicago, IL. The longest putting winner was Ambassador U.Batbayar.
